Question: Have you ever had a doubt with becoming a scientist and what is your top advice you would give to people who cold be future scientists like yourself
Yes I have! And I still do every day when I’m having difficulties with my experiments or something else. However things always come around in the end and I really enjoy what I’m doing most of the time! I only decided I wanted to do science when I was at university so it was never my childhood dream job.
My top advice is, be curious about the world around you and ask questions! This is how I found my research topic, sparked from my own experiences (I moved to the UK and realised it was really easy for me to swear in English in comparison to my native language, and I really wanted to know why this happens)
Yes, many scientists suffer from something called imposter syndrome, where you always feel like you aren’t good enough to be a scientist. However, if you work hard enough you usually realise that science can be for everyone.
My advice would be to work as hard as you can and make sure you pick something about science that fascinates you so you are always interested and ready to learn more!
