I am 28 years old. I live with my fiance (and her really irritating cat) in Everton, which is in Liverpool. Obviously I also support the team too!
When I am not being a scientist I have many things that stop me getting bored, these include sports, art, and travelling. I love Lego and probably spend too much money on it. I like going to gigs and festivals, and listen to a lot of music. If I am having a stressful day at work I listen to music from the Harry Potter films to calm me down!.

I conduct research into behaviours that are harmful to health, particularly drug and alcohol use, and unhealthy eating behaviours. Some of the things I am particularly interested in is how individuals can lose control in certain situations and this might lead to drunkenness and eating bad foods (chocolate and crisp).
As well as my research I enjoy teaching. I teach on a variety of subjects including addiction and statistics.

My Typical Day:
I don’t really have a typical day, it will involve a combination of writing, teaching, research and chatting to students.

A typical day might involve a morning of writing, maybe scientific papers or proposals for new experiments. I will schedule meetings in the afternoons when I am a bit more alert (I am NOT a morning person), these might be with students to discuss our study findings or professors to being new lines of research. Some days I will give lectures and these will vary widely from 12 students to over 200. More recently I have been getting out and doing more with the general public, which includes chatting on the radio / in magazines about my research or giving demonstrations.

What I'd do with the prize money:
